Savvas Michael – Matsas
After a 15 months of an ongoing Zionist genocide of Palestinian people in Gaza, a fragile ceasefire in 3 stages between Hamas and the Netanyahu regime in Israel has been agreed. It will start next Sunday, January 19, on the eve of Trump’s inauguration as US President.
Trump in a triumphalist self-advertising statement presented the “deal” as his own personal achievement. It is true that the cease-fire agreement is a copy of the same advanced by Biden, last Spring, months ago. Trump exercised some pressure on his close friend, the butcher Netanyahu, to get this cease-fire as a promotion gift to his inauguration. It does not mean that the re-elected US President became suddenly” pro-Palestinian” or a “pacifist” despite some fake impressions provided by his electoral pledges “to finish in one day the endless wars abroad of previous US Administrations”. Now, in his self-congratulating statement on the cease-fire in Gaza, his only mention to the Palestinians without even naming them was to declare his determination “to purge Gaza from terrorists”.

The joyful manifestations of relief of the martyrized Palestinian population after 15 months in Hell is fully understandable. But no triumphalism is appropriated neither among the victims of the genocide nor for their butchers. Ruined Gaza is an open wound and there is no prospect for “a next day” solution. The cease-fire is very fragile and nobody can predict even if it will reach the more difficult second stage of the plan.. Above all the on-going Nakba, the Palestinian Catastrophe not only has not stopped but it became more devastating puting in flames all the Middle East, the region and the world at large. From the other side, the Palestinian Resistance proved again its resilience and steadfastness preventing Netanyahu and the Zionist regime to achieve their declared war goal for a “total victory “in Gaza, a crucial step on the road to impose the US- Zionist imperialist strategic plan for a “New Middle East” eliminating the Palestinian “obstacle”.
These complexities, old and new, their international repercussions and the prospects for a revolutionary way out from this historical hell, will be discussed among international fighters of the region in the debate organized by the EEK and its newspaper Nea Prooptiki on January 27 , 7pm , at the hall of ESIEA (Union of the Journalists of the daily newspapers in Athens – See the poster below)
