Dear Comrades,
On behalf of the DIP and in my own name, I would like to express our deep-felt sympathy for the victims of the flash floods and our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this catastrophe. In particular, we wish to express our solidarity with any comrades, if any, whose family has been caused damage in this event.
The workers and toilers of Turkey are the sisters and brothers of their neighbours of the other side of the Aegean and will no doubt solidarize with the Greek people on the occasion of this disaster.
It need not be reminded to the people of Greece, who have been suffering under the austerity regime of European capitalism, that this is no less a social disaster rather than a simple natural catastrophe than other instances of flooding, earthquakes and other forms of natural phenomena, a social disaster brought about as a result of the many scourges of capitalism.
