The Workers Revolutionary Party (EEK-Greece) expresses its solidarity with comrade Şiar Rişvanoğlu, member of the Revolutionary Workers Party (DIP-Turkey), fighting lawyer, defender of workers and oppressed peoples, Palestinians and Kurds. Fascist threats shall not pass! No Pasaran!
On October 16, 2024, comrade Şiar Rişvanoğlu was threatened by the fascist militia of the Turkish deep-state, the so-called “Turkish Vengeance Brigade”. The fascists broke the window of his car and, with a note, threatened the comrade against his support for the workers and his defense of the Palestinian and Kurdish people.
Şiar Rişvanoğlu has been threatened before, in 2020; but, this time the threat came just a few days after his speech at the General Assembly of the Adana Bar Association, where he submitted a resolution of solidarity: with the struggling workers of the Polonez meat factory in Istanbul, who are struggling for more than three months now against the brutal violation of their right to trade union action (146 workers have been dismissed by the employers), but also with the farmers protesting poverty, the Palestinian people who are suffering the zionist genocide and the oppressed Kurdish people. In addition, the comrade in his resolution in the General Assembly called for the closure of the İncirlik and Kürecik military bases and the halting of oil transit from Turkey to Israel.

Fascists prove once again to be a union-busting tool in the service of the bosses. “Those Polonez workers and their leaders you are defending will not come to save you,” the threatening note wrote. And then they added: “You can’t hide with these shows that you hold up Palestinian flags and big words about imperialism”; proving that they are on the side of zionism and imperialism.
Comrade Şiar Rişvanoğlu from a very young age and then as a lawyer, stands with the workers and oppressed of his country fighting against the bourgeoisie and its fascists. There was one time when he made the State to lose sleep over him engaging in an election campaign in which workers’ indignation and Kurdish dynamism in Adana – one of Turkey’s largest cities and an important industrial center – came together. He never succumbed to threats, nor backed down from his fight.
The Workers Revolutionary Party, from the other side of the Aegean Sea, is standing by the side of comrade Şiar Rişvanoğlu, sending our international solidarity to him, to our comrades of the DIP, the Turkish working class and its people. We call on the Greek and international working class, the workers, student movements and fighting lawyers everywhere, to express their internationalist solidarity with comrade Şiar Rişvanoğlu and condemn the threats of the fascist deep-state.
Down with fascism!
Down with Erdogan’s despotism; long live freedom!
Long live the unity of the workers and the brotherhood of the peoples!
